Family Owned And Operated, Herr & Co. Brings Two Generations Of Builders To Your Project.
Jim Herr and his son Mike Herr cherish the opportunity to work together while building both a legacy and the dreams of their clients here in the Valley. Both are Class-A building contractors, and collectively they have provided comprehensive services including contract administration, subcontractor coordination, and management of cost, time, quality and safety since 1988.
Herr & Co. is fortified with carpenters on-staff and a full office team to ensure the completion of your dream home or commercial project. Our staff is professional, punctual, and here to help you every step of the way.
Shanon Campbell
Shanon joined Herr & Co. in 2022 and brought over 2 decades of construction experience with him. He finds each stage of the construction process to be a fun challenge. When not at work, Shanon is an avid fisher.
Patrick Carl
Patrick has been with Herr & Co. since 2017, but he has been a carpenter and had experience in restoration and woodwork for over twenty years. He most appreciates looking back after each project and reflecting on how much effort goes into building and making a client’s dreams come true.
Patrick lives with his wife Nichole and their son. He enjoys hiking, floating on the river, and relaxing with his family during his free time. Keep an eye out for him at his favorite local restaurant: Bella Luna in Harrisonburg.
Sam Carter
Sam has been with Herr & Co. since 2016. He came to the company with two years of carpentry experience and an excitement to learn more about the industry. During his time with the company, Sam has further grown his love for the construction process. He enjoys the detailed planning of each project and getting to see each client’s dream come true.
Sam, his wife Michaela, and their “herd” of animals live on their horse farm outside of town. He is a passionate whitewater kayaker, and he takes every opportunity he can to mountain bike and hike in the mountains. They visit Cuban Burger, his favorite local restaurant, any time they can.
Stuart Didawick
Stuart joined our team in 2022 and brought with him over 4 decades of invaluable construction experience. During his time with us, he has worn many hats—pulling from his experience as both a carpenter and superintendent for a large commercial contractor. His dedication to the customer’s happiness shines through daily, and he takes pride in the completion of each project.
When not at work, Stuart enjoys spending his time with his wife and daughters, riding motorcycles (he’s ridden through all 50 States!), or enjoying an evening at Cave Hill.
George Dodson
George has been part of the Herr & Co. team since 2019, and he quickly found the pulse of the industry. He is always excited to apply his background in sales to this field that he is deeply passionate about. He most enjoys the process of taking something that people have dreamed about for a long time and helping it become a reality. Being able to frequently learn something new in this ever-evolving line of work is an added bonus.
George fell in love with his wife Becca in Harrisonburg, and they have continued to fall in love with Harrisonburg itself. They have two sons and enjoy cooking and the local music scene. Where is his favorite local spot to dine or hang out? La Morena.

He most appreciates seeing each finished project and reflecting on all of the planning and preparation it took to get there, as well as the valuable concepts learned along the way.
Jon is part of a close-knit family that enjoys spending time together. He and his siblings (along with their children) spend many weekends at their camp in Bath County hunting and fishing. His favorite local spot to dine or hang out? Enjoying the outdoor music and relaxing by the river at Brewing Tree in Afton is a definite top pick.
Laurie Gabriel
Laurie’s decade of experience in the construction industry made her a great fit at Herr & Co. when she became part of our team in 2022. She most appreciates the countless small details that culminate into each completed project.
Outside of work, Laurie cherishes her time with her kids and husband Mark, whether they are at the beach, on a hike, or hanging out with their golden retriever and husky dogs. She also appreciates art and enjoys the many outdoor dining options (especially those with great desserts or Asian cuisine!) in our area.
Kyle Herr
Kyle has been a full-time carpenter for seventeen years, but he feels like he has always been around construction because some of his earliest memories are of being on a job site. Having shared much of his life with his family ingrained in the industry, it is no surprise that continuing to do so is still one of his favorite parts of the construction process. He enjoys working with the Herr & Co. family, as well as helping client families see their dreams come true.
Kyle, his lovely wife Adrian, and their two sons live in Harrisonburg and love it every day. They take advantage of the outdoor opportunities in our area by hiking and canoeing. Where is his favorite local spot to dine or hang out? Thien-An Pho in Harrisonburg.

His own business experience has proven invaluable in his role at Herr & Co. since he joined our team in 2023. His favorite part of the building process is seeing the structure grow from the ground as it takes form during foundation and framing.
